Product Description
This car is more than just beautiful, it is quite famous. Driven to victory in the 1968 24 Hours of Le Mans by Pedro Rodriguez and Lucien Bianchi, chassis number 1075 would be fit for retirement. However, JWA decided to bring it out for one more try in 1969. Driven by Jackie Oliver and eventual 6 time Le Mans Winner Jacky Ickx (this would be his first victory at La Sarthe), chassis 1075 would again be victorious, beating out the Porsche 908 of Hans Herrmann and Gerard Larrousse by a mere 400ft! This would make chassis 1075 the second car to have won consecutive Le Mans, and one of only 3 to have ever achieved this feat. This would be a fitting finale to Ford's Le Mans efforts as rule changes coming into effect in 1970 would render the GT40's obsolete. At the end of July we were informed that these cars will not fit an SP12 digital chip in stead they will take a C7005 chip. Here is what Slot.It told us directly: "Actually, in order to have compatibly from our classic cars (Ford GT40, Ford MKII, Alfa 33/3, Ferrari 312BP, Chaparral 2E) and SSD, the only way is using the Hornby chip C7005. At the moment SP12 fit only into Gr.C and GT slot.it cars."
